A big source of sodium in our diet comes from restaurants and pre-packaged meals. Examples of high sodium foods include canned soups, pre-packed frozen meals, lunch meat and potato chips. Fast food resturants account for over 75% of our sodium intake. However many feel that they eat a low sodium diet because they do not use the salt shaker, it actually accounts for only about 10% of our daily salt intake.

How Are You Able To Reduce Your Sodium Intake?

There are several ways to cut reduce the quantity of sodium you consume. Adding spice mixes, flavoured vinegar, citrus juices and fresh herbs to your meals are all great options. The most important thing you can do may be to avoid fast food restaurants. Most fresh foods for instance unprocessed meats, fish, vegetables and fruits are low in sodium and are healthy, flavorful alternatives to processed or packaged foods. 1 or 2 examples of healthier, low sodium alternatives are mentioned below.
